About Ethan

Ethan and the Ewox has been working as a full-time band for the last 10 years. Listeners of WWOZ/New Orleans chose them as the number one JazzFest artist when they debuted at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival  on the main stage, opening for Los Lobos, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, and Ben Harper. They're turning heads with a classic rock-influenced brand of music that ROCKS, POPS & ROLLS with Southern soul. Ethan and the Ewox has just recently moved from the small town of Jacksonville, AL to the big city of Atlanta, GA. where they are developing quite a fanbase. The band is fronted by the unique acoustic guitar style and passionate vocals of Ethan Baker. Add to that the distinctive, fusionistic fingerstyle/lead/rhythm techniques of lead guitarist Rob Bruce. Renaissance-man Gary Chumney fills it out with his incredible drumming and talent for being able to play any instrument he picks up. Deeply influenced by their Southern roots, the band has refined an intelligent sound that is quite different from anything out there, yet strangely familiar at the same time. Ethan and the Ewox's music creeps up on you; their songs include accessible, insightful lyrics and awesome harmonies - with enough acoustic and electrification to sooth your rock 'n roll soul. Their music makes an excellent case for their growing fan base and airplay. There are just enough noticeable influences to satisfy anyone. Ethan and the Ewox has been a working band for over ten years. Positioned for infamy, their label shuttered and they've spent the past year working towards the final conclusion of every band's nightmare. With five albums under their belt, they've recently re-teamed with producer Joseph Castriota (Dixie Chicks, Days of the New, Digby, Nathanial Kunkel, Ron Aniello, Peter Asher, Matt Wallace). A three-song EP is scheduled for release in late Summer, with a full-length CD (their sixth release) due out early Winter. The band is actively shopping for a new record deal. Ethan and the Ewox has opened for such artists as: Days of the New Los Lobos Ben Harper Robert Randolph & the Family Band The Dave Matthews Band Creed Shawn Mullins Drivin 'n Cryin Mike Tramp of White Lion 98 Degrees and Dream. Past discography includes Common Element, brothersofdifferentmothers, Entropy Boy, Acoustic, and Live At Brother's. Entropy Boy received national distribution through Select-O-Hits and can still be found at retail, Amazon.com and CDbaby.com. Entropy Boy's executive producer was Travis Meeks of Days of the New.
