About Bocastria

Bocastria, dubbed "Austin's Firecrackers" by Austinist.com, exploded onto the music scene in 2006 with its original fusion of Latin Rock and Tejano music. The band is fronted with the harmony vocals of two sisters, Tanya Martinez and Maddie Briones. Bocastria's first release, "Enter the groove," was recorded by Grammy Award Nominee, Jonny Martinez, (son of Tejano Music Hall of Famer, Anselmo Martinez).

In just one short year, Bocastria was recognized as one of the top Latin bands to emerge from Austin, TX. On May 17, 2007 the band was honored by the City of Austin and Mayor Will Wynn with "Bocastria Day."

Bocastria has performed at several showcases including the annual Tejas Records VIP Party, SX-Tex-Mex Awards, and ME Television's "Laternativo" showcase. The band has appeared on several TV programs including ABC in Austin, Fox 7 Morning Show, ME Television, and Primetime Tejano. Bocastria's music and first music video is receiving airplay across the country. This year the band is selected to participate in "Tu Ciudad, Tu Musica," a Burger King Music competition featuring the best Latin artists in the United States.

Along with its musical success, Bocastria was the first group to establish a monthly Latin showcase at Troubadour Saloon in Austin attracting Latin acts from all over Texas. Bocastria has opened up and performed with some of the top Tejano and Latin Alternative Rock bands such as Michael Salgado, Ram Herrera, Jay Perez, Los Desperadoz, Jonny Martinez, Sunny Sauceda, Shelly Laures, Molotov, Girl in a Coma, Upground, Maneja Beto, Boca Abajo, and Bombasta.

Bocastria is currently in the recording studio working on their new album to be released summer 2008.
